The Haverford Hawks are hosting a 3-day tournament for 12u level teams (2013 and 2014). The tournament will be April 2-4, 2026 at the Skatium Ice Rink (1002 Darby Road, Havertown, PA 19083)

No. Teams will wear their club jerseys (bring both home and away).

What is the cost per team?

Each team's registration fee for the tournament is $1500.

Can either pay in full or do $500 deposit.

Tournament Rules

I. Eligibility 

a. All US teams must be registered with USA Hockey. A copy of USA Hockey Roster must be provided to the tournament director at least two weeks before the tournament. 

b. Foreign teams must obtain appropriate documentation from their local federation 

c. The tournament is open to Pee Wee (12U) AA, A and B teams. No out of range players will be allowed, except as permitted by the team’s governing body. d. Teams must be able to play on Thursday, April 2, 2026. 

II. Playing Rules 

a. USA Hockey rules govern all play. 

b. Teams must be prepared to play 30 minutes prior to their assigned ice slot. c. Periods will be 15 minutes each. 

d. 3 minute warm up before all games. 

e. Running time shall be applied when the goal differential is 5 goals or more in the third period. If the goal differential returns to 4 goals, stop time is applied. Coaches may agree to run time earlier in the game. 

f. Penalties will be assessed as follows: 

i. Minor penalty – 1:30 

ii. Major penalty – 4:00

iii. Misconduct – 8:00 

g. Each team must place someone in the penalty box to assist the players with entering and exiting the penalty box. 

h. No protest of playing rules shall be permitted. 

III. Tournament Structure 

a. The tournament will be divided into three divisions with four teams in each division. 

b. The National Anthems of Finland and The United States will be played for all games between Viikingit and an American team. No anthems before games consisting of two American teams. Players are to line up on their respective blue lines with helmets removed facing the flags at the main entrance. 

c. Each team will play three round robin games. 

d. Viikingit or Hawks teams will decide on jersey colors before game. All teams must have light and dark jerseys. 

e. The first and second place teams in the round robin will play in the championship game for the tournament title.  

f. Two points will be awarded for a round robin win, one point for a tie, and 0 points for a loss. The teams will be ranked by the number of points earned. g. There will be no overtime in round robin games.  

h. The maximum goal differential attainable per game is +/- 6.  

i. If two teams are tied with the same number of points, the tiebreaker will be as follows: 

i. Head to head result 

ii. Highest goal differential (goals for minus goals against, max 6 per game) iii. Highest goal ratio (goals for divided by goals for and against) 

iv. Least penalty minutes 

v. Coin flip 

j. If three teams are tied, the following will be used: 

i. Highest goal differential (goals for minus goals against) in games among the three teams 

ii. Highest goal ratio (goals for divided by goals for and against) in games among the three teams 

iii. Highest goal differential in all games 

iv. Highest goal ratio in all games 

v. Least penalty minutes 

IV. Championship Games 

a. Recognition will be given to the Championship winners. 

b. If a championship game is tied at the end of regulation, there will be a sudden death overtime, as follows: 

i. Five minute stop time, three on three

ii. Five player shootout 

iii. Goaltenders do not change end during the overtime period or shootout. iv. Time-outs are not permitted in the overtime period. 

c. Any unexpired penalty incurred in the third period will carry over into overtime. d. If a penalty carries over into overtime, or is assessed during the three on three overtime, the penalty shall be treated as follows: 

i. The penalty time shall begin as four on three. 

ii. At the expiration of the penalty, the teams will play four on four. iii. At the first stoppage after the power play ends, the play will resume as three on three. 

iv. If a major or minor penalty is assessed when the team is already shorthanded, then play resumes as five on three, and the players return to the ice as penalties expire. At the first stoppage following the end of the penalty, four on three or three on three is restored as the penalties expire. 

e. If at the end of the three-on-three overtime period a tie still exists, there shall be a shoot-out. 

i. Five (5) players from each team shall participate. Winner is based on total goals scored after all players have had their turn. 

ii. Visiting team will shoot first. 

iii. If still tied after the first round, there shall be a sudden death shoot-out. Teams may use the same shooters from the first round or others at the coach’s option. 

iv. Any unexpired penalty incurred in the overtime period will result in that player being ineligible for the shoot-out.
